I've seen numerous Naked Face Challenges lately and for a while. So, now I'm adding my own to the mix.
So...here it is...my Naked Face...freshly scrubbed with my favorite mark. apple & cinnamon cleanser.
Throughout college I took classes and did numerous projects about women, their rights, their injustices and the media's influence.
We've been told, brainwashed and teased into fitting inside the confines of ideological boxes.
We've been told, brainwashed and teased into thinking our worth comes from our appearance and without the physical dimensions that are sold in magazines our life cannot be fulfilled and success is out of reach.
Well, I say... screw those ideologies and screw the advertisements taking beauty out of the eye of the beholder. Do what you want, wear what you want, have fun with makeup or don't. But don't be brainwashed or led to believe you matter if your appearance matters to someone else.
"The beauty of a woman must be seen from in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. " - Audrey Hepburn

Great post - have to say that my face spend most of its time being naked....I am not a fan of having to put my face on before going to the store, and I have to say I think it is the secret to good skin and fewer wrinkles....
ReplyDeleteHave a fab day
Lou :-)
I think a woman's self-worth should never be solely dependent on her appearances and/or what people perceive of her appearances, but I feel that there is no shame in indulging in prettying yourself up, feeling good when you look good, and enjoying the praise of others who appreciate your effort. (:
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more. Although I love wearing make-up and prettying myself up, I also love to know that I have the right to not wear makeup if I don't want to, and that this doesn't make me less feminine or unappealing. By the way, you have incredibly gorgeous eyes!
ReplyDeleteGood for you! And that cleanser sounds divine!
ReplyDeleteFirst I want to say props to you for being brave and showing a make up free face. I would be terrified. Also thanks for reminding me that I don't have to believe something because I am "supposed" to. I can believe in me and all I am no matter what someone else thinks. Great post!!
