I have a huge treat for you today. A guest post and gift from my newly found blogging buddy. Enjoy her!

.............................................................................................................................................

Hi everyone! I'm Jen from Red Parka Diaries and I'm guest posting here on Grace's lovely blog today.

Now, you guys know Grace. And you know she LOVES to decorate! This is something Grace and I have in common and so I thought I'd share with you one of my more decorative techniques for getting organised. You see, getting organised is not always fun. Satisfying? Yes. But fun? No.

If you're anything like me, you have a head full of ideas and dreams and goals and passions. Places you want to go, things you want to achieve, financial aspirations, relationship goals... the list goes on. And that's the problem in a nutshell. The list goes on, and on, and on, and on and on!

I'm an illustrator and I love bright colours and fun designs as they help me keep my spirits up and get motivated. Recently, in a moment of despair over my ridiculously long and multiple to-do lists scattered all over my desk and pinned to the wall, I decided to design myself the ultimate to-do list. I wanted it to be bright-colored and have something fun and cute on it AND I wanted it to be useful. My biggest problem when it comes to work habits is getting overwhelmed. So I decided the best thing to do is have a list that helps me compartmentalize my priorities. And so The Dream-Chasers Day Planner was born! And now I want to share it with you!

Let me break it down:
Dream-Chasing Priorities - This is where you list the things you want to do today that are going to get you one step closer to your dream! There's only six spots here because I think any more than six priorities is too much! I try to keep it to three most days.

If I Have Time.... - This is where other dream chasing tasks go, but ones that can wait for another day if you run out of time today. You can move these up the list when and if they become higher priorities.

Boring But Important Stuff - There are things we have to do, but they simply can't be listed among our dream-chasing tasks because they are far too boring. For me, this little list usually includes things like updating my accounts, paying bills, ordering more packaging etc.

Self-care & Fun - This is really important! Busy people chasing dreams often forget the most important thing - looking after yourself. There are four spots here and I usually fill them with things like taking a walk, catching up with a friend for coffee, dropping by an art gallery for a bit of inspiration or taking a long hot bath with a good book. Self-care and fun are so important - don't miss these ones!

Shopping & Errands - Because we all forget the milk from time to time, jot down here the little items and tasks that need to be done today, like buying vegetables for tonight's dinner or returning library books.

Notes - A blank space for whatever you need!
You can download my day planner here on Her Umbrella. I hope you like it and find it useful!

Happy dream-chasing! Jen x
